Rep. Dan Griffey explains why sexually violent predators should be designated as such on state IDs

During debate on a bill that would require the state to help inmates and those civilly committed get a state ID when released, Rep. Dan Griffey, R-Allyn, argues for an amendment to require such IDs include a designation for any sexually violent predators (SVPs) being released from McNeil Island to less restrictive alternatives in communities that labels them as SVPs. Griffey points out the majority party refused to hear any of his proposals to strengthen oversight and accountability in the current system for SVP releases, arguing without those changes to the system the designation on the state IDs in the only way to inform and protect communities.
