Rep. Dan Griffey on governor: ‘We need more leadership’

Rep. Dan Griffey, R-Allyn, talked with KMAS about the governor’s recent announcement that he plans to begin vetoing bills waiting for his signature if the legislature does not present a supplemental budget by March 10.  Griffey called the decision ‘ridiculous’ and said, “He is not an active manager.”  Jay Inslee should “show more leadership,” said the Republican lawmaker, and offer fewer “threats.”

There are as many as 35 pieces of legislation awaiting gubernatorial approval, with more to come.  Griffey told listeners of KMAS that the governor must let the budget process work its way through.  “Both sides will play hardball,” he said, “but in the end, we’ll have a budget.”
